Dear Suustudents,
Hope you are doing well, and that you are enjoying the start of a new course 🙂
I am emailing you with a few announcements and reminders from our study association.
Firstly, I wanted to share that we went to Ghent last week! We had a lot of fun, explored the city, went to two museums, and experienced an interesting lecture on folklore and social critique. Cheers to Hilbrand for organizing this trip that very much explored different aspects of philosophy of science and science communication. Attached you will find a picture of us on the trip 🙂
Secondly, we now have an official website for Suus. Credits to our wonderful computer scientist Marien for taking the initiative of building it: https://sasuus.nl/ More trips and activities will come soon and will be updated on the website. We have officially formed three committees for Suus, and we will start to work pretty hard for them this week to keep the agenda full.
Now, I would like to make a summary of the upcoming events concerning our community:
- Tomorrow, Tuesday the 15th, there will be a colloquium by Megan Davies on Settler Accidents in the Canadian North. Hope to see you at the Sweelinckzaal (0.05), Drift 21, at 15:30.
- Next week, Tuesday the 22th, we will have our Constitution Drinks. This is a fun social activity. All of our members are invited. There will be snacks and free drinks at the Vagant. See you there at 19:00. Please fill in this form if you plan to come so we know how many drinks to get!
- Next week, Wednesday the 23rd, a special colloquium from the Descartes Center will take place. To celebrate the 15th anniversary of the center, the philosopher Yogi Hendlin will discuss “Figure-Ground Shifts in Cognition: How the brain became embodied and our environment became the extended mind“. You can join us at Kanunnikenzaal, University Hall, Domplein 29 at 15:30.
Lastly, there is a new Suus club for board games. If you would like to spend a fun evening sharing with friends and being nerdy, join the group.
Have a wonderful sunny day.
Best,
Ori
