A new year

Dear all,

On behalf of the new Suus board, I would like to thank you for a great start to this academic year. We all had a lot of fun at our opening drinks and getting to know Utrecht from a more HPS/SEC perspective at the treasure hunt. If you haven’t already, please become a member of Suus. It is free and it helps us a lot. Sign up here

We are very excited about what is to come in the upcoming months for Suus and all of our members. The excursions’ committee has already organized a great outing activity for next week. We will go to the Sonnenborgh museum together next Tuesday afternoon, the 27th of September. Suus will cover your museum entrance fee and afterwards you can join us for dinner at Vegitalian 🍕. Sign up Friday at the latest in the form: I hope to see many of you exploring the history of astrology in this very special place in the middle of the city.

Our first general assembly will take place in the Vagant, in Science Park, on the 24th of October at 17:00. It is a great opportunity to get to know the association, and take important decisions related to Suus, so mark the date in your agenda! We will send you a reminder of this event in the weeks to come.

There is some quick practical information that I’d like to share with you in case you want to get more involved with Suus, or just join for some activities with your fellow students:

Suus committees

This year, we will have four committees (Excursions Committee, Study Trip Committee, Social Committee, and Activities Committee). We highly encourage you to join the committees to help in organizing fun activities. We welcome all sorts of creativity, and would love to see as many of you contributing to the way in which we shape Suus. It is also a great way to get to know your fellow students! It is important to notice that the committees are voluntary, and do not have a very intensive workload (around 2 hours per week). The deadline for applying for a committee is the 9th of October.  In this form, you can find out more about each of the committees, and sign up for them: :

There are lots of different hobbies and interests amongst Suus students. We want to encourage all sorts of connections and shared passions together. We would like to invite you to join some of our clubs. They are open to all students, and they are a nice, low-key way to make new friends. Last year, different groups met for reading cool books, knitting and crocheting, learning new languages, running, and much more. Here you will find the link to join these clubs. If you have any suggestions for a new club, do not hesitate to contact us, so we can reach out to other students and see if someone is interested.

We hope that you are enjoying the beginning (or continuation) of your Masters. Feel free to reach out in case you have any questions or suggestions.
